Objectives of the SAGP

500,000 Armagh births, deaths and marriages now searchable online: http://armagh.brsgenealogy.com/

1.        Construct a dedicated website for genealogy for the South Armagh Tourism Initiative region.  This will not contain any actual genealogical records but will show the visitor what genealogical information and sources are available and where they can be accessed.

2.         Include a central database for genealogy sources for the South Armagh Tourism Initiative area.  This will give links to other websites with a similar interest.

3.         Conduct a number of Case Studies on famous (or indeed infamous) residents or on historic events in the South Armagh Tourism Initiative area.  I would hope to work with local historical societies or individuals or schools on these Case Studies.

4.         Organise a number of Genealogical Tours in the South Armagh Tourism Initiative area.  These Tours would visit places and people/groups of interest to local genealogy.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 5.        Produce a number of Interpretative Panels for some graveyards in the South Armagh Tourism Initiative area.  I would hopefully identify a number of historic graveyards and with the help of already published Cemetery surveys produce an Interpretative Panel at the entrance and this would detail the history of the graveyard and also an index and map to the headstones in the cemetery.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

6.         Produce 20,000 brochures to market the South Armagh Genealogy Project.  These may be a series of brochures detailing particular genealogical events or interests.
