Tí Chulainn is a state-of-the art cultural facility set in the heart of the Ring of Gullion in South Armagh. It is the first development of its kind owned wholly by the local community, dedicated to fostering and developing Irish language and culture. This new purpose built centre (the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland) opened in October 1998, although the Tí Chulainn organisation was established in 1990.

Located at the heart of the cultural community of South Armagh, Tí Chulainn offers to visitors and tourists a unique cultural experience where they can enjoy and participate in a wide range of cultural activities including music, song, dance & folklore.

In 1771 Archbishop Robinson established Armagh Public Library as part of his plans to establish a university and to improve the city of Armagh .  The nucleus of the collection is Archbishop Robinson’s own Library which contains 17th and 18th century books on theology, philosophy, classic and modern literature, voyages, history, medicine and law. In addition, the Library holds work to help with family history research, including:- The Census of Ireland for 1821, 1831, 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881; General Valuation of Rateable Property in Ireland by Richard Griffith, published in Dublin in 1858, covering 22 counties in Ireland; The Ordnance Survey Maps of Ireland for all 32 counties, published in Dublin in 1835.      Opening Hours:- Monday to Friday, 10.00am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 4.00pm. The imposing twin spires of the Catholic Cathedral overlooks the City on an elevated site.  It was on this hill on 17th March 1840 that the foundation stone for Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral was laid by Archbishop William Crolly. It was over 60 years before the Cathedral was completed with consecration on 24 July 1904.

Greetings from the Ecclesiastical Capital of Ireland, where we welcome you to this Cathedral Church of St. Patrick which stands on one of the most ancient Christian sites in the British Isles. St. Patrick built a stone church on the hill known as Druim Saileach (Sallow Ridge ) in 445, so beginning the story of Armagh Cathedral. He ordained that Armagh should have the pre-eminence over all the churches of Ireland, a position which it holds to this day.
